Bhairavnath Temple is dedicated to Bhairo Nath ji who was killed by Mata Vaishnodevi. The Bhairavnath temple is located at a distance of about 2 kms from the Vaishno Devi Bhavan. According to Hindu mythology, visiting this temple is important for you to complete the pilgrimage to Mata Vaishno Devi temple.
The story behind the temple: Bhairavnath was a tantric and wanted to marry goddess Vaishno Devi. To get ride of Bhairavanth, mata rani went to the Trikuta Hills. Later, Mata took the form of Mata Mahakali and ultimately killed Bhairavath. At the time of his death, Bhaironath ji asked for forgiveness and mata rani forgave him and said that whosoever visits her temple must visit Bhairavanth as well. Then only, a pilgrims visit to hr temple will be considered complete.

How to reach the Bhairavanath Temple

    Trekking: You can walk upto the temple. The trek is of about 2 kms from the mata vaishno Devi shrine. Its an uphill journey and the trek is quite steep.
    Ponies/ Paalkis: Another way to easily reach the temple is by ponies ( horses ) or palanquins ( paalkis ). Both the services are easily available near the Vaishno Devi Bhavan.
    Ropeway: Its the easiest way to reach the temple. The ropeway starts from Manokamna Bhavan near the temple. The ropeway takes just 5 mins to reach the temple. Its the most convenient option for the elderly, people with children or who are short on time.

How to Book: Bhairavanath ropeway tickets can be booked online two months prior to the date of visit.
The tickets can also be booked at the counter near the Mata Vaishno Devi Bhavan. But, the tickets get sold out fast. It is recommended that you book the tickets online for convenience.
Timings: The ropeway from Vaishno Devi Bhavan to Bhairavanth Temple operates from 8 am to 5 pm.
Ropeway ticket price: the price for the ticket to & fro is just Rs 100.
Also, the view from the ropeway and the Bhairavanath temple is truly worth watching. It gives a nice view of the Tarakuta Hills. The view of the hills, Vaishnodevi temple is unmatched especially during the sunset.
